My main criticism of “Mockingjay” is the fact that Katniss spends too much time in the hospital- or in a prison cell -when interesting things happen. Of course she’s in a war zone, which means it is realistic, but the story is told in first person which makes for some anti-climatic reading. Overall, I still enjoyed the book, it’s just not the best in the trilogy.

Finally finished reading “Mockingjay” after buying it back in August/September. One of the things I noticed were the “zingers” at the end of most chapters. I was annoyed with them at first, but kind of like them now.

Dear Ms. Tonks,
You are easily one of my absolute favorite literary characters ever conceived. You are everyone. You can be absolutely anything that strikes your fancy. And when you think about it, that’s what’s so amazing about life, isn’t it? It’s the endless possibility of knowing we can twist and turn and shape these lives of ours into whatever we want or wish or hope that they can be. When you’re everyone in the world all at once, no matter what you’ll always be yourself. I love that about Tonks more than anything. She is who she is, no apologies, no reservations, and it’s always inspiring. I hope my sketch captures even a little of that confidence.
Thank you for reminding me that I can make myself into anyone I want to be.

I don’t know why I cared about this character more than I should have. R.I.P., Tonks and Lupin.

I bought “Mockingjay,” the last book in “The Hunger Games”, sometime after it came out. I tried to get into it, yet I couldn’t. Maybe at the time I wasn’t in the mood for reading. But now I’m going back to finish it up, which shouldn’t take me long. One thing I love about this trilogy of books is that Collins doesn’t believe in doorstoppers, unlike other YA authors out there…

Currently obsessing over "The Hunger Games."
